[It's been two weeks since Riki was de-NPC'd, but the whole ordeal had him more or less keeping to himself afterward for a while. Not to mention, his best friend's birthday was only days ago, so he had been thinking a lot about his time alive, his home world, the Little Busters, etc. Feeling significantly better today though, he decides to go ahead and check up on everyone and whatnot after classes.]

It looks like bringing up memories really does work, because here I am, ahah... I'm sorry to those I was inconveniencing as an NPC, but I'm back now. I was a little afraid of going back to attending classes with all of the shadows around, but it looks like they don't really bother us much if we're doing that. ...Actually, it seems like there are a lot less shadows lately in general. I wonder why that is...?

I also saw that the Student Council elections are going on again, so good luck to everyone running! Though on that note, has anyone seen Kashiwazaki-san around?

[He figures she might have passed on, but... part of him kind of hopes not, as selfish as it may be.]

I don't believe I've seen her in a... I'm not sure how long ago. It seems recent, but not that recent.

I couldn't tell you. I didn't know her until everyone gathered into groups for the houses. I don't remember seeing her around the house much during school hours, though.

That's about as close to an affirmative answer as he'll be able to get from her.]

That's right. As well as Yaegashi-kun and his friend, and someone else.

She was. Even though she had a bit of her own agenda with the wish to go back home and all.

[ And the last time they talked she called him 'partner' so he's probably been in on that. He wishes he at least had his memories the last time they spoke, but wishes are useless in the afterlife anyway. ]

Now she disappeared normally after all. What a let down.

[And Riki just selfishly wishes she was still around -- along with Kyousuke, Rin, and any other friends from home or here. But it's useless to muse over it anyway.

He sighs.] It is a let down... If she moved on though, then that's a good thing for her, right?

[ Are they saying this because it's true or because they want to make themselves feel better? It's hard to tell. Kohaku's not even a nice enough person to be cheered up. Maybe the fact that people found something positive before him and without him makes him even angrier. ]

We don't really know what the hell happens after here`though, do we?

Maybe we go to heaven? Or maybe we're reincarnated?

...Or maybe not. I've tried not putting too much thought into it, but I really have no idea what happens afterward. It's kind of ominous, isn't it?

[ Kohaku doesn't like either of the two options - heaven sounds like mockery and reincarnation is another loss of self. He really doesn't know what he wants. The existence of a life after death really messed things up. ]

Yeah. It's a pain when people you know disappear and we all just sit around going 'well even though they basically vanished into nobody-knows-land I am sure they're well' because there is nothing else we fucking can do about it.

[Riki's just trying to think of something, at least... but Kohaku has a point.]

I didn't think of it that way, but you're right... Putting it that way, it sounds a little insensitive that we say that sort of thing, maybe? But thinking about it, that's also like what people normally say when someone passes away.

And you can see how right they were about it. We're here.

That's not exactly the better place people on funerals cry over.

[ To be fair, this world is a lot better than his old in many aspects... but he's angry and hurt and refuses to think positively right now like the pain in the ass he is. ]

They might have figured out that we're turning all the NPCs back to normal, so they're lessening the amount of shadows to think of a new strategy.

You think so? If anything, I'd think they would just increase the number of shadows if that was the case.

No; it would make them easier targets in that case. Besides, I'm pretty sure they already know that as long as we're in the houses or in class, it should be OK.

Hm... But couldn't they just make it so that the shadows would attack us even if we were in class?

They could, but that would be counter productive. Being in class raises the chances of anyone who isn't an NPC to disappear, after all.

To disappear? How so?

Well, in order to disappear, you're supposed to have a fulfilled life, right? And that's what the school is for. Otherwise the afterlife - or at least, this particular one - would be something else, wouldn't it?
