Greetings, everyone! I am so glad that the worst of our troubles are over. Now that we are free to talk and walk without fear, I was curious about something, and perhaps we can use this as a chance to bond even closer!

How does your country, nation, or homeland  celebrate birthdays? Mine has recently passed, so I was quite curious to know how others did it, in all places and social types.

[Though her text is peppy, she is not. Having recently discovered two of her classmates, Hinata and Gundam, are gone, her spirits are down. She sits alone in an empty classroom, scrolling through her phone silently.]

Well, in my world birthdays are treated fondly. Living isn't something everyone can say they have much experience in-- doubly upon joining the military.

Men would often be taken out for drinks by friends or family, the rich would have cakes and sweets for dinner while lower class families would take the night to have their stored meats over say soup.

October 14th.. today I would have been turning 37. [That's really old for a Scouting Legion commander, lets be real. He doesn't want to be to public about it, no party, feels old.]

Happy Birthday! Merriest of celebrations! Shall I treat you for cakes and sweets, or would you prefer stored meat soup?

[She sighs, deciding not to delay it.]

... Licking my wounds, as you could say. Two of my dear companions have left...

[The good thing about an empty classroom is that the seat beside her was open.]

Eh? How did they leave? We're stuck here.

[He thought this would be a good place to nap- empty classroom, no one would even bother looking for him in here. Or at least he thought so, until his eyes fell upon Sonia just sitting alone in the room. Huh. He thought he was one of the only people who'd dare do something like this. Whatever, he just shrugs, and takes a seat somewhere in the class, except he's totally making it obvious he's here, judging by the scraping of chair against the floor.]

Ah, sorry. I didn't think the chairs would make that loud of a sound. You seemed preoccupied, and I didn't want to disturb you. [Or so he says.]

[She appears to believe him, lifting her head only when he speaks. She smiles, though it is strained.]

It's all right. I don't mind the company... and this is a free school. Please, do as you wish.

Free school, huh? With the way people have been acting, it doesn't seem to be that way to me.

[He yawns, wanting to sleep, but he supposes he'll indulge this girl.] If it's also a free school, you wouldn't mind me asking why you're sitting there, right?

[Ishimaru was just walking by when he spotted Sonia. Now, he might not be good at picking up when people are upset, but even he can see that she's down. He should probably leave her alone, but lol what is tact, so he walks in.]

Nevermind-kun? Is something wrong?

Ive never celebrated my birthday
I only learnt you throw parties for the day you were born after coming here
But if I did have a birthday party back home there would be a big cake and lots to eat and all my friends would be there and we would all play games

Every culture has their differences, no matter how small. From small events like birthdays to large events like marriages, we should all celebrate what makes us different!
