[Jeez, is it hot out. Jeans not used to this kind of climate nor has he ever really experienced the ‘fat man in the suit’ kind of Christmas-- to be perfectly honestly he’s not even sure what Christmas is about? From the sound of things it’s some holiday those wall worshipers would have loved. The air is thick with a blazing heat, you know, none of this would be going on in his world. Right about now they would be freezing and snow would be falling, break out the winter coat.. That sort of weather.
They were selling these fancy shirts at the shop in town (whatever you want to call it, campus? Hell, he’s not really used to the term ‘campus’ either) so he decides to get one. Got to fit in, right? More importantly there are mentions of a ‘beach.’ He’s never seen one of those but damn it if he’s not experiencing it. After all, that Armin kid would never shut up about beaches and the sea in training..
The sand on his toes is, whow, does everyone feel this stuff? He quickly puts his sandals back on, the stuff almost feels muddy? It’s not mud.. is it? The festive lights glimmer over the water, who had the time to put all these decorations up anyway, is this just what beaches are all about?]

( That’s right, the water… apparently it’s different from normal water. You find Jean leaned over the coast watching the water come right up to his feet and then go right back in. The concept of current so bizarre to him, his eyes wide in shock but not from fear--just confusion. First and foremost he needs a swimsuit, helping him pick one might be a good idea before getting into the water (we can always handwave that he already had one, however.) Jean would think surfing or waterskiing (and/or whatever else would like to magical be at the beach for students and staff to enjoy) VERY interesting. Sadly, the kid needs to learn to swim. Teacher, teacher can you teach me? Can you tell me all I need to know? Enjoy keeping him from drowning....For a more spiteful option, you could always get him to drink the water. He might carry a (bigger) grudge afterwords though. )

kirino has bee trying to adjust to this place ever since she got here, but really, it was something new and weird pretty much every week. this was supposed to be the afterlife, right? didn't that mean it would be relaxing? ugh, it was so annoying. kirino however already has a swimsuit on, but she's also wearing a light hoodie on over top of it, not to mention sandals.
...yeah, she figured she might as well enjoy this. kind of.
she spots jean a little ways away, and she goes up to him. talking to new people is always hard for her, but her brother would have wanted her to try.]
You look like you don't even understand water.

[Stumbling up awkwardly, eyes darting down to the sand as he gets up. He looks so uncomfortable, this stuff just does whatever it wants.. will it suck him into the ground? Jean takes himself a step back out of caution..]
Well, okay, I don't get it. I've never been to a beach..
Whats in the water that's making it move like that?
no subject
she frowns at him, sighing a little and she flips her hair over her shoulder. what a dumb question.]
Are you stupid? [time to lie, she's curious to see if he'll believe her.]
Earthquakes, tons of earthquakes and it'll soon reach us.

Are you going to get in or not?
[ She doesn't really care if he has a swimsuit or not, though judging by her outfit there's probably something you're supposed to wear since Yuri's not the type to run around in underwear. ]
A
Yo.. Ah-- I don't know, is it safe?
[Should he be in something similar? What kinda of nerve does Yuri have running around in her underwear?]
what the hell where did the notif for this go? I only got the edit..
shh it's okay tay this is late as hell...
forever backtagging...

[Hope you weren't expecting a sexy swimsuit, cause she's wearing a full body wetsuit. Anyway, she's happily running up to him.]
And here I was, thinking I would swim alone!
no subject
And if Jean would have ever gone swimming he would have just been in his underwear.] Hey, Sonia!
[He stands up with a smile on his lips, watching his feet to make sure he's not sinking.] Nice get up... So this is an ocean, you can swim in it? Isn't the water salty?
no subject
[Then, she pauses... oh, my.]
Have you never seen the ocean before? Is this a brand new chance at discovery?

And she did it in such a way that nobody would be suspicious. However, when she notices Jean, she speaks up, her voice monotonous. ]
Are you simply going to keep standing there?
[ Simple conversation first, important questions later. (Yes, this question was not important.) ]

[Jean looks back down to the water but from the sound of things there is nothing to fear.. at least, if someone was willing to come here in their underwear surely this is a normal thing for water to do. Or--? Mostly, Jeans positive he's looking like an idiot..] A-ah, no. I've never seen an ocean before, is the water supposed to be movin' like that?
[He stands up, minding his footing, still worried about this sand stuff. The texture doesn't feel stable like ground and far more similar to mud, and you can sink in mud..]

[ With a simple toss, of her hair, Homura answers slowly, her voice even as always. There's no need to get worked up over a question like that, after all. Although she doesn't exactly know why the water is like that. ]
Yes.
[ Simple and straight to the point. ]

As quietly as he can manage, he swims back to the shore and tries to stay out of Jean's line of sight long enough so he can splash him with a wave of sea water. Surprise!]
no subject
[He swears bloody murder over the growing busy beach, something was in the water attacking him!] UGH AHHKK--! [His coughs, some of that salty water got in his mouth, ew! It's disgusting!
He runs from the shore, soon finding that sand stick to things that are wet as his legs start collecting grains.] Who the--what the?! Show yourself, asshole! [... surely it was a classmate.. or worse, it wasn't. It was something from the sea, apparently the ocean was home to giant fish that could swallow a man whole!]
no subject
I wasn't expecting you to run like that, I thought you'd fight back or something!
[He was totally ready for a water fight and everything. It's just a little salty water anyway, it can't be that bad!]

When Makoto notices Jean, who looks just as unsure as him (even if for completely different reasons), he can't help but sigh out loud a little.]
This is too weird, isn't it?

He catches it (sorta) before it can get away. Who the hell threw that-?!
......Leon] Excuse me, asshole?! What do you think you're doing?!
[Jeans mad, sure, but his face only shows little signs of being smacked. He's not to upset.. not entirely.]
no subject
Don't answer that one. He's already holding out his arms in fact to try and get the thing back.. ]
C'mon, I need that thing to play! It just happened to go in the wrong direction 'cause of the wind, I'm not used to the balls being this light.

[Head tilted to the side, the other didn't seem to scared or panicked-- nothing must be out of the ordinary, thus fine. This give Jean some freedom to calm down, open himself to learn something.]

[So he comes down to the beach to find Jean in the water. The tall brunet is wearing swim trunks he'd gotten earlier in the year and... nothing else. The dark tan planes of his body are visible down to the waist, and it doesn't seem like he's gained any weight like Jean seems to have over his half year here. Not seeming to find the sand too hot to walk over with bare feet, he approached the other.]
Jean...? A-aren't you uh, warm?

[Could ask you the same thing, buddy. Might as well make civil talk, it's not like Bertholdt has any power here, the big lug seems to have a lot of regrets too..]
