[Want to fast forward to after they've met up and are back on the surface?]

[ Homura will wait until approximately ten minutes before leaving; after all, she won't be able to stay on the surface for long. That wouldn't be a good use of their time, after all. She's armed with five bombs, ready for anything. ]

[Caius won't keep Homura waiting for too long, showing up not long after the time he specified. He's carrying a practice sword in one of his hands, which while not as strong as the real thing will have to work for the time being.]

Hey, sorry if I kept you waiting long. Ready to go?

[ Homura merely shakes her head. ]

It's not of importance. Let's go immediately.

Right. This shouldn't take long.

[Here's hoping anyway. Caius heads off first, wanting to be the one leading them to the archery field just so he can deal with anything that comes their way as soon as possible. Ain't no shadows gonna get by him.]

[ Homura will follow behind him; she's not speedy, nor is she slow, but at least she's catching up to him, her hands clenched into tight fists. With a serious voice, she speaks up, monotonous. ]

How much further?

We're almost there! If we cut across the field coming up then we'll get there even faster.

[Faster, but by no means easier in this case. The place where the archery club members practice can actually be seen from the path they're running down, but its behind one of the school's sports fields which happens to have a good number of shadows roaming about on it. Running all the way around the sports field would be safer, but more time consuming.]

Want to go for it? We can take the gate here and barge right through the shadows.

[ Homura nods in response. ]

That's fine.

Okay, let's go!

[Gate open, Caius charges right on through and bolts as fast as he can across the field. When a shadow moves to intercept him he stops to slash at it with the practice sword he's carrying, attempting to make quick work of the shadow with his weapon and what strength he has.]

Right.

[ Homura nods again before running as fast as she can; fortunately for her, she's pretty able, though she won't be able to attack any of the shadows, only the ones that are behind her. ]

[As long as Homura has their backs covered, Caius with keep control of things up front. Once finished with the first shadow he makes a show of waving his sword around to hopefully keep the shadows more focused on him than Homura.]

Hey c'mon, over here! Come and get me!

[He's not sure if the shadows fall for taunts like that, but he's trying anyway.]

Keep moving forward, once you think you can make it to the other side you should run for it and grab what you need!

I'll be quick.

[ She'll head on off immediately, only getting a bow and plenty of arrows so she can sustain herself. ]

[While Homura runs off to grab what she needs, Caius follows behind and quickly slams the gate at the other side of the sports field shut. With the way the shadows move around he's not sure a closed gate will do much to hold them off, but if it buys even a little time then it's worth it.

All the fighting and commotion seems to have attracted even more shadows to the area, to the point where the sports field appears to be teeming with them.]

We'll take the long way around to get back, there's no way we can make it through there now. Got everything you need?

That's fine; I can protect myself more easily now that I have this.

[ Especially since she knows how to use it, too. ]

Great, we're going then!

[And not a moment too soon either, considering the shadows seem to have made it around the gate. Or more suddenly showed up. It's hard to tell with how many of them there are.]

[ She'll ready her bow and arrow, silently shooting any and every shadow in sight as she passes by them. ]

[Looking to his side as he runs, Caius spots one of the shadows being defeated as Homura fires at it. He turns around quickly as he runs to shout out to her.]

You're pretty good with that bow, keep it up!

[He soon spins back around to watch where he's going, moving off the path to slash at an approaching shadow before continuing his run. If she's this good with a bow and arrow he was to wonder why she didn't ask for a hand with finding weapons sooner.]

[ Homura doesn't mince words; instead, she simply jumps backwards as she shoots more arrows towards the shadows, hitting them directly in the center of their bodies. She doesn't waste time, nor does she waste any of her ammo as she continues, making sure that she doesn't get hit by any of the shadows, nor does her companion get hit as well. ]

[For a moment it seems as though they're going to make it back without a hitch, what with how smoothly everything had been going. Making their way back around the sports field, what can only be described as a horde of shadows seems to be blocking their path. There are enough of them to make Caius stop in his tracks for a moment as he thinks about what to do next.]

... We can take them on, right?

[He's sure he can handle them with Homura backing him up like she has been doing. Plus if push comes to shove he can always transform if he really needs to.]

Not for very long, however.

[ Especially since her bow does run on ammunition. But she did keep a reserve that she wouldn't use in this fight; she's careful like that. She does feel a bit guilty that she doesn't have her abilities in the afterlife, though. ]

If we can't take them all then it only needs to be long enough for us to break through.

[And that's the last thing he says before charging in, running with his sword held out to his side so he can bring it around to attack in a wide sweep once he's close enough to the shadow in front of him. Having his artes would certainly help, but he can manage fine in a fight with just his swordsmanship alone until his artes come back.]

[ Homura will jump in the air as she shoots five more arrows directly at their targets; thankfully, these shadows are easy shots. ]
