Hello there, my name is Mami Tomoe. I'm a third year middle school student, and it looks like tomorrow will be my first day in class here.

I suppose I'll need to go and find some supplies for my first day at school? I never would have guessed I would need to looking for a notebook again after I died. Does anyone have any recommendations?

[ Mami's voice sounds a little cheery, though she's always been so very great at putting on a facade that hid her true feelings. ]

I hope I won't be too far behind the lessons, if I am I might have to ask someone to help tutor me so I can catch up.

[ On her first day Mami will be trying her best to find her classes, but she might need some helping making sure to go to the right room. Or perhaps she just looks lonely, sitting by herself as she eats, unable to convince herself to try and find someone to share lunch with. It might be obvious that there's something bothering her, perhaps the normalness of all she is suddenly hit with, after preparing herself for her own death.

In general though, she seems approachable, as she always has wanted to be, and wouldn't say no to a friendly face. ]

[ Mami says her goodbye and then goes to quickly check her appearance, to make sure she looks alright. She thought perhaps she might look different, after her death, but everything seems to be in place.

So she'll be there early, standing around waiting for Ichigo to find her, looking lonely, as she seems to always look when she has no one else around. ]

[ Madoka is slowly realising that something is off here too - maybe just because of the mention of Kyouko while Madoka didn't even really know that the two of them ever met, let alone knew each other.. Kyouko only came to town after Mami died, right? Then maybe it's a Mami of a different timeline, but..

.. does that even really matter? Mami is Mami, no matter what. And to Madoka she'll always be such a hardworking and splendid girl. ]

Sorry, Mami-san.. I haven't seen them here yet. [ Just Homura, but she doubts that would be a very good thing for Mami, so she doesn't mention it. ] .. I promise I'll be here with you though, okay..? There's no way I'll leave you alone.. [ .. "again", but she tries to swallow it. It's hard though, remembering the memory of going to Mami's apartment and seeing it so empty and knowing it was all her fault. But for now, while Mami is crying, she'll do her best to be strong and comfort her. ]

[ On one hand, she know she should be happy that Kyouko and Miki didn't have the regrets that she had, that they were able to move on to heaven or samsara or whichever next step awaited them all. On the other hand, Mami feels selfish, wanting to see her friends, one more time. But she has Madoka, and soon she finds herself sobbing against the other's chest, her arms gently holding Madoka close to her.

It's wrong to put Madoka into this position, having to deal with her crying, with all her pent up sadness, again even, but Mami can't hold it back. She had cried while she died before, hoping that Madoka would forgive her for what she had to do to keep her promise to Kyouko. ]

Kaname-san, you're too kind to me.. [ She doesn't know what else to say, she just needs a bit more time to get her crying out, forcing herself to depend on Madoka's kindness yet again. ]

[ She doesn't mind it in the slightest. Sure, she minds that Mami is sad, but not in the sense that she could ever be angry at the girl for it. She just feels sad and worried about her, but Madoka knows that for now, all she can do is try to be there for her. So when Mami holds her like that, Madoka slowly moves her own arms up too to wrap them around the other girl and hold her in return.

There aren't many words since there probably don't have to be. It's a quiet kind of comfort -- or so Madoka hopes, either way. ]

You've worked really, really hard.. but it's alright now. [ The words are almost whispered against the other girl like this. ]

[ Mami never let her tiredness catch up with her in life. She worked every day or so defeating witch's familiars and witches, helping other girls when she could. Even on days when things were quiet she would spend it having friends over for tea and snacks, and that meant spending time cooking. She never realized how tired she was of everything. How she wanted to not have to think about the difficult things in her life. When she was with Kyouko, and Sayaka too, she was able to relax just a little.

Now, far away from Kyuubey and the witches, Mami cries, and lets herself feel everything she's been pushing away. ]

I'm sorry, I never asked if you were okay.. ..I already spoke to Akemi-san.. [ Meaning, she knows whatever Madoka knows. Or something like that. ]

[ Ichigo comes over as soon as she finds someone with the described hairdo. She's wearing a cute dress she got toward the beginning of January with an apron over it, so she stands out somewhat amongst the regular students as she runs over to Mami with a smile. ]

Hello! Are you Tomoe-san?

I'm fine!

[ It's not really a lie. After all, even if she feels incredibly guilty over her death and how she wasn't able to help people and died for nothing.. she at least thinks this afterlife isn't all that bad. Especially because of the kind people all around. She's glad to have gotten the chance to meet them - and the chance to see people like Homura and now Mami again. ]

Hehe, really.. don't worry about me, Mami-san. [ She gives a bright smile at that. ] Homura-chan.. she wasn't too unkind to you, was she..?

[ Madoka knows by now that under her cold exterior Homura does have a lot of kindness and did a whole lot for her, but.. judging from the way Mami and Homura acted back home, she's not too sure if that went well here. ]

[ Mami waves happily when she sees Ichigo, her face changing quickly as she recognizes the girl's voice. It's nice to have someone to talk to, in person, someone who isn't Homura. ]

I am, you must be Amano-san.

[ She bows her head just a little in greeting, running her hands down her own skirt. ]

Thanks for taking time out of your day for me.

Akemi-san is the same as she's always been. [ That is to say, not friendly, but not outright antagonistic either. Despite everything, Mami does wish she could have found more in common with the other magical girl, so that they could have been a closer group of friends, but she had never found her agreeable to anything, and distanced herself so that Mami could never trust her. ]

I'm glad that you two have each other, so you are not alone.. [ How Mami means that is ambiguous, as she doesn't know how they feel about each other. She knows her own feelings for Kyouko, and Sayaka as well, are difficult to put into words, but she can guess how Homura and Madoka might see each other, or might see each other eventually. ]

I think it's good though, to have an ordinary life. I wish sometimes my life had been a lot more ordinary..

[ There's definitely a sound of loneliness to her own words. ]

Nooooo way!

[ Haruhi folds her arms over her chest, narrowing her amber brown eyes in an annoyed state, spinning on her heel as she speaks up in a slightly, authoritative, yet slightly annoyed tone. ]

Ordinary life like that… [ Her voice is as low as a growl as she says this, clenching her hands into tight, balled fists, gritting her teeth. ] I didn’t want a life like that. That kind of life-- there’s no way I would accept a life like that.

[ Of course, she’s speaking more to herself than to Mami at this point; she doesn’t mind ordinary days at times, but having it for so long was something that she despised so much. It made her feel insignificant. ]

[ Madoka can at least catch onto what Mami means by that, but.. it doesn't mean everything is lost yet entirely. If Homura is still acting that way towards Mami, then she'll just have to work hard to bring the two closer together, right? Homura and Mami are both kind people, so it should work.

But at the last part she shakes her head. ]

You're here too now! So.. I'm not alone anymore at all. You're a really good friend to me. [ Even if Homura might be her best friend. But she still can't help but look up to Mami all the same. ]

[ Mami knows that at some point, she and Homura were actually friends, that the girl had looked up to her at one point. But from her own perspective such a thing had never happened, though she doesn't think that Homura would be lying about that. Which means that some part of her believes that she could become friends with Homura again if she stopped pushing everyone away.

A slow smile at Madoka's comment appears on her face, as Mami moves to fill a simple cup from a can of tea. ]

This is all I could find on short notice, I hope that's okay.. [ Having someone over, Mami had to make sure that she had tea. ]

You might be the friendliest girl I've ever met, Kaname-san. I'm glad that you're here, all things considered..

[ Mami is surprised to see Haruhi react like that, but she doesn't budge an inch, despite the pain in her that she is slowly starting to feel. ]

There are worse lives you could have had. You could have been a slave, or been forced to see your friends die in front of you. Isn't ordinary better than that?

[ Her voice is quiet, but sure, for the first time in a long time, trying to let how she feels out. ]

Yes! [ She smiles brightly and gives her a polite bow, a little deeper. ]

It's not a problem at all! Things are weird here, but I love baking more than anything so if I have someone to bake with, I'm more than happy!

... Even so, I didn't want to be seen as the same as everyone else. Everyone, everyday simply did the same thing. Wake up, go to school, do homework-- I lived a dull life. I didn't want that.

I'm glad to hear it.

[ Life lately had been so focused on the terrible things, that Mami barely bad a moment to do any cooking up until her death. So now, with what seemed like an endless amount of free time, she is finding herself looking forward to cooking again. ]

So you do all your cooking in the home ec rooms? No one minds you using them?

As long as I don't interrupt the lasses, it's usually okay since I clean up before and after. I think they're just glad that someone's cleaning the room who knows all the rules!

[ She smiles and starts leading her toward the room. ]

[ Mami follows just a step behind the other girl, looking around as they walk, trying to get a better sense of the school she is now going to be attending. ]

It would be wrong to make someone else come up and clean, right? [ Mami is certainly glad to hear that Ichigo is a responsible girl. It makes it easier to get along with her. ]

What sort of ingredients can you get?

[ She nods, a bright look on her face. ]

I guess we don't really have to worry about getting sick too much but it's still better to keep clean anyway.

[ As for ingredients though, Ichigo holds up her hand to count them off. ] Well, there's a greenhouse and a garden club and they usually have lots of fruits and vegetables to work with. The home ec classrooms have basics like flour and sugar and eggs, then usually if you order things from the cafeteria you can just ask them for the ingredients instead of the made food and it's still just a meal ticket. Plus if you go into the forest there's wild berries and things like that out there too. You just have to look for them.

Is that true? I guess it would be strange if salmonella were tom somehow exist in the afterlife, right?

[ It is just a silly joke, one that she hopes Ichigo can appreciate. ]

I guess it's a little more difficult than just going to the market to pick up everything you need. But it's nice, to be able to cook with fresh ingredients too.

I think maybe people could still get sick, but we heal fast enough that it wouldn't get bad probably..

[ She's not really sure, and her tone of voice sounds like she's kind of questioning it. ]

I'd rather just not risk getting sick to begin with!

[ She smiles about the ingredients as she goes to hold the door open for Mami. ]

I wish they had a farmer's market here, they're the best!

Maybe we could start one. Just something small at first, selling fresh produce to people. I bet a lot of people would like something like that!

[ Mami bows her head in thanks and enters into the room, her eyes wide as she looks around. She's just happy to see the stoves, the ovens, and everything else that makes it clear she's in a place for cooking. ]

Hmm... That might be good! I'm sure we could talk the gardening club into it, it'd be great to be able to have different varieties of food like that!
